This week a pristine 15,000 mile ’74 K5 Blazer caught the attention of plenty on Bring-A-Trailer. Given who the now-former owner of this Blazer is, you can’t look at it without saying…holy grail. Yes, thats right, this classic SUV was brought to auction by Dennis Collins, and now that I got in the obligatory “holy grail” term we can move on. Cool? Cool.
(Before you watch the video, just take my advice, you’re gonna want to know what a Quonset hut is. It’s like a barn but like, round and made out of galvanized steel. You’ll see what I mean when you watch it)
Found in one of his recent barn finds at an unspecified location in Montana, Dennis came across this K5 Blazer as well as a nice 1980 GMC C3500 Quad cab Dually Camper Special. Parked in a garage since the early 90’s, this blazer was collectors’ dream find. Complete with numbers matching 350ci V8 and 4-speed transmission, it doesn’t stop there.

When the Blazer was ordered new at Crossroads Chevrolet in North Hollywood, well, the original owner clearly liked his options. It includes the Cheyenne trim, locking differential, the highly desirable removable hardtop, padded rollbar, and god bless his foresight for the last option….air conditioning.

Lastly, if you’re into the paper trail of collector cars like this, it has its service parts identification tag, owner’s manual, manufacturer’s literature, and 1974 registration paperwork.
But what is a car like this worth? Before I go any further, if you don’t already know, the last two minutes of any Bring-A-Trailer can get very very interesting. Each new bid with under 2 minutes left, the countdown resets back to 2 minutes. If you thought the last few minutes of a football game can last forever, the same idea here but a little bit more.
After a hard-fought battle between two bidders, this 1974 K5 Blazer 4-speed hammered at $85,000. Right behind the $300,000 Ringbrothers 1972 K Blazer, this ’74 is now the second-highest selling Blazer on Bring-A-Trailer.
Even though you can’t make this Blazer your own, if you want to see more on it, you can still see more of it on Bring-A-Trailer now. Looking for more of a traditional auction and badass American muscle? Well, check out these 5 muscle cars headed to the auction block soon.
