1957 BMW Isetta 300 Going To Houston Auction

If you grew up watching TGIF in the ’90s you were either a parent with young children or one of those young children with nothing better to do on a Friday (I was the latter). However, as a result I grew a special appreciation for the BMW Isetta or as it became known to me and many like me, the “Urkel car.”

Those of a younger generation had never seen anything like it and the same was true, for many parents, but it instantly became unforgettable so when this one was listed to be sold at Mecum’s Houston auction this weekend it naturally caught our eye. Introduced in 1953 this unit headed to auction is a 1957 Isetta 300 with a 298cc engine. What does that mean? Well, it means this bad boy packs an eye-popping 13hp! Painted two tone blue and white it has the interior to match along with whitewall tires, chrome accents and a sling top.

Crossing the block this weekend the Isetta is projected to hammer between $30,000 – $50,000, but the nostalgia it would inject into your collection is priceless. Not to mention that when your wife asks you why, you can say, “did I do that?”
