1978 Lincoln Batmobile Replica Brings High-Price At Auction

This Batmobile first drove into our hearts in 1966 and it made such a lasting impression that in 2013 the original sold for $4.6 million. Ever popular, this 1978 Lincoln Batmobile Replica was the third most expensive car sold at Mecum’s Harrisburg auction over the weekend hammering in at $195,250.

The replica is based off the original George Barris design and features all the trappings of the Batmobile: radar, wheels, batscope, rocket tubes and bat phone. It’s powered by a combination of a 400ci engine and propane rocket and features under 80 miles since build. Additionally, the Batman nostalgia is further engrained in the car by way of Adam West and Burt Wards signatures as well as Catwoman herself, Julie Newmar, once riding in the car. All three’s interactions documented with photographs.

At nearly $200,000 some 50 years after it first debuted it doesn’t appear that the Batman craze is slowing down anytime soon.
