50th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am To Star At Louisville Auction

As most know Richard loves Burt Reynolds which means we all love Burt Reynolds so when this 1976 Pontiac Trans Am SE was listed at Mecum’s Louisville auction we took interest.

First things first, we know this isn’t a Bandit Trans Am as it’s a ’76 and Burt was behind the wheel of a ’77. It is also, notably, not a t-top which makes it just 1 OF 319 non t-tops produced. However, it is a commemorative edition celebrating Pontiac’s 50th anniversary.

It features its number matching 455 HO engine which in 1976 would be the last year that Pontiac would offer the car with the powerful V8. Additionally, it maintains its original Hurst 4-speed transmission along with a slew of other original components. The car has since undergone a repaint, but period correct with the black and gold and iconic eagle emblem on the hood.

The car will cross the block this weekend in Louisville where some lucky bidder will undoubtedly have the neighbors pondering, “it must be Burt Reynolds or something?”
