’62 C-10 Combines Past, Future Into E-10

At this point we’re beyond beating a dead horse when it comes to talking about the future of cars and how they will be electric. And they will be, it’s inevitable, but that’s not the point here. The point is how new tech and old styling can merge near seamlessly as evident by this Chevrolet E-10.

What’s an E-10 you maybe wondering, though I doubt, it’s a 1962 C-10 updated with “an electric Connect & Cruise concept crate propulsion package.” The package which has proven itself in the Chevrolet Bolt updated the classic truck to about 450hp from two 400-volt batteries. Though the engine is no longer gas, the transmission remains the SuperMatic 4L75-E automatic transmission which helps propel the truck to a 0-60mph time of near 5 seconds and quarter-mile time in the 13 second range.

Interestingly enough the truck is further pushed to the future by way of its speaker system, via Chevrolet:

To fit in with other hot rods on the road, the E-10 has a sound emulator complete with three speakers to simulate an induction sound in the front and two banks of a V8 engine in the back of the vehicle. The driver can select one of five modes on the emulator, including: LS7 Z28 track tuning, LS7 Z28 touring turning, a V8 engine, a futuristic sound or silent – and the sounds will automatically adjust to the changing of the gears, truly mimicking an internal combustion engine.
