’69 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Leads Classics Into Weekend Auction

Monterey car week is in full effect with a plethora of auctions bringing the best classics, exotics and customs in the world to market. Of the multiple houses hosting auctions, Mecum kicked off their weekend last night with the first night of their three nights of offerings. And crossing the block at the highest price of any classic or muscle car with this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

Looking straight out of Dazed and Confused, this Camaro is highly original with only 29,900 miles. It features one of Chevy’s most famous engines, a DZ 302cu.-in. engine and on top of that it’s all number matching and was rebuilt this year in January. Additionally, the car features more number matching parts by way of its 4-speed transmission and 12 bolt 3.73 Positraction rear end.

This Burgundy muscle car features Black Houndstooth interior and has the X33 special trim group with added performance elements. Heading to a new home it hammered last night in California for $80,300.
