A Skyline Better Than Most Cities Up For Auction

There are very few cars that have the ability to turn the heads of nearly everyone and the Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of them.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R is most recognizable to non-car people as “Paul Walker’s car in 2 Fast 2 Furious.” Which in this case they’re partially right, but car fanatics would be quick to point out that this GT-R for sale is a 1990 R32 and in the first film he drove a 1999 R34. Which brings us to another head turning factoid about the car.

This 1990 for sale at Bring a Trailer was imported to the U.S. in 2017, just two years after its ban via the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act was lifted. If not familiar, the act puts a ban on importing cars less than 25-years-old. This in turn makes these 90s GT-Rs rarer and more desirable to car fans and poses the question, how did Brian get his in the film? Though the least of the head scratching plot points in that series.

Known for its ties to the Fast and the Furious franchise, rarity due to import laws, the final head turning element to the car is that it’s right side drive. Again, this one is directed more toward non-car people as we generally associate right side drive cars with England or a country influenced heavily by colonial rule, but not Japan. Which according to most is the result of samurais walking on the left so that they could grab their sword with their dominant hand and as cars were introduced they traveled on the left just as the samurai did.

Now’s your chance to own a real head turner and awesome car at the same time as it’s currently being auctioned off at Bring a Trailer. The auction ends in four days and is currently up to $21,000.
