Be The Prince Of Cool In this 1953 Hudson Hornet Sedan

Heading to auction this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, FL this 1953 Hudson Hornet Sedan was once owned by The King of Cool himself, Steve McQueen.

There is not much about the car’s history noted before McQueen took ownership in the mid-1970s, but you could make an argument the day he acquired the car was really the first day it came to life. Registering the car in his name in 1977 McQueen would have the car until his death in 1980. The car would remain part of the McQueen estate until 1984. During his ownership McQueen would rebuild the engine and the subsequent owner would repaint it, the interior would remain authentic throughout.

This is a nearly perfect Hornet alone, and with the added appeal of Steve McQueen it is truly a one-of-a-kind Hudson Hornet. Adding to the uniqueness, this rare colored Hornet, will cross the block this weekend with the original license plate that was adorned to it when McQueen was driving in it in the late 1970s. With its fine condition and history it’s project this Hornet could fetch between $100,000 – $200,000 at RM Sotheby’s.
