Duo Of Street Rods Headline Collection Headed To Auction

An allegiance to a manufacturer is something that is engrained in the most die hard of gear heads. However, for Barry Walston seeing his dad wrench on Ford engines, Ford cars, Ford stock cars and on and on as long as the blue oval was present it wasn’t enough to convert him to a loyalist.

Instead Barry maintained a simple philosophy amassing a collection of cars he liked. Last year he parted with four street rods from that at Mecum Las Vegas and this year he returns to part with two more. On the docket from his collection are six cars in total, but only two street rods: a 1936 Ford Coupe and 1939 Pontiac Coupe.

Quite a bit of time has gone by since 1936, but for this Ford only 25 miles have ticked off since it underwent a full rebuild which featured a 5.7L LS1 engine and 4L60E transmission being put in. On the flip side its street rod brethren Pontiac features a 350 CI engine and turbo 350 transmission with a Mustang II front end… With a backup camera to boot for those that can’t handle these beast of yesteryear.

Both cars are part of the Barry Walston Collection which will cross the block this weekend at Mecum Auctions’ Las Vegas offering.
