Eclectic Five Bring In Top Dollar At Monterey Auction

They all may share a hefty price tag and some decent top speed, but if a 1933 Duesenberg Model J, 2014 La Ferrari and 1989 Porsche 962 race car all walked into a bar you’d be like, “WTF!? How did these cars walk into a bar?” On top of that though, you’d note their eclectic dynamic.

For starters, the top five at Mecum’s Monterey auction span 81 years of production and that’s between the first place, 1933 Duesenberg Model J, and second, Ferrari 2014 La Ferrari, alone with the other three falling in between. In the mix at number four you have a 1989 Porsche 962 which was far from just another Porsche, but a purpose built racer having won the 1989 Daytona 24 hour endurance race. Rounding out the five are two iconic Italian designs, but from three very different decades. In third is the 2003 Ferrari Enzo of which just 399 were ever made and holding down the fifth spot the ever popular 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400 S.

Top 5 (appearing in order below)

1) 1933 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe Disappearing Top Roadster – $3,850,000
2) 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari – $3,190,000
3) 2003 Ferrari Enzo – $2,860,000
4) 1989 Porsche 962 – $2,200,000
5) 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400 S – $1,155,000

Total: $13,255,000
