End Of An Era Unrestored Hemi Challenger R/T

The 1960s are most associated with peace and love these days, but alongside that movement was the shake and roar of the muscle car era. That era came to an end in the early 1970s, as did this prime example of it, a 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T.

It would be the ’71 model year that would mark the end of the Hemi Challenger R/T as well as the Shaker hood option; however, if you’re looking for both then look no further than Mecum’s upcoming Las Vegas auction. This car is not just a representation of the era, it is the era! Featuring the number matching engine, original black paint and original black interior it presents the buyer with the opportunity to buy a “new” Hemi Challenger R/T nearly 50 years after it was discontinued.

That number matching engine is the powerful Hemi V8 with 425hp under that Shaker hood. It features a 4-speed manual transmission as well as a Sure Grip Dana 60 differential. It is riding on date-code correct wheels and has power front disc brakes. A time machine back to the great muscle car era this Hemi Challenger R/T will cross the block October 10-12 weekend.
