Exclusive Texas Only Ram Debuts Today

If you’ve been to Texas you know what I’m about to say, if you’ve never been to Texas it’s really the only thing you need to know: us Texans love Texas. Even if just connecting through an airport here you will undoubtedly we exposed to a store filled with souvenirs covered in the Texas flag. In fact, I bet there’s only a couple state flags most of us could even recognize, Texas being one.

The reason for all this is because at the DFW Auto Show today Ram debuted their new 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Lone Star. However, this is not just Lonestar in name, but also in availability. The new trim package will be only available in Texas, the largest truck market in the U.S, which makes sense given its the largest state second to only Alaska. In 2002 Ram became the first manufacturer to acknowledge just how important Texas was to the U.S. truck market and the result was the first edition dedicated and available solely in the state. Since then they have gone onto sell 270,000 units of their Texas-only models.

Via Ram:

Lone Star models include chrome door handles, bumpers and grille surround, as well as halogen headlamps with optional LED lighting. Standard 18-inch steel wheels can be upgraded to 20-inch chrome or painted aluminum wheels… Ram Lone Star is offered with a choice of two interiors packages and four colors. An optional equipment group features a closed upper-dash door with a Lone Star nameplate badge, a power driver seat and Uconnect 8.4-inch multifunction touchscreen. The trim is available with Black/Diesel Grey, Black/Light Brown, Light Frost/Black or all-Black premium cloth seats accented with new interior finishes. Seating is available in two-passenger bucket, three-passenger bench, five-passenger bucket or six-passenger bench seating options.

Like the majority of trim packages of this nature the changes are primarily cosmetic. The Lone Star model is available in 4×2 and 4×4 powertrains and in the the regular, crew and mega cab body options. The 410-hp, 429 lb.-ft. of torque 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 is the standard engine, but Rams most powerful engine option, the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, is also available. Pricing for the truck starts at $37,645 for the 2500 and $39,095 for the 3500.
