Florida Auction Has Record $23.2 Million Weekend

The sun must have been shining particularly bright down in Florida this past weekend with so many cars catching the eyes of bidders. Now in its 17th year, RM Sotheby’s Fort Lauderdale auction hit a record high with sales topping $23.2 million during the two day auction. On top of that, the auction has a sell through rate of 80% of the 476 listed lots.

Not only did the auction as a whole hit record numbers, but the record for most expensive car ever sold at that auction was achieved by this 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari. The LaFerrari is the brand’s first hybrid hypercar and as a result of that electric/gas setup has a mind blowing 949hp and 664lb.-ft. of torque with a 4.8 0-100mph time and tops out at 217mph. This particular example is very low mileage with under 600 and strays from the usual Ferrari Rosso Corsa in favor of Giallo Modena, making this one of 499 LaFerrari even more unique. When it finally hammered on the second day of the two day auction Saturday, the gavel price was a record setting $3,080,000.
