Ford Debuts Fastest Production Drag Racing Mustang Ever

You could say they call it the “Dream Cruise” because, well, it features some cars from your wildest dreams. Case and point, Ford’s 50th Anniversary Mustang Cobra Jet.

In 1968 the original Cobra Jet would dominate drag strips and this one aims to pick up where it left off. With a “5.2-liter version of Ford’s famed 5.0-liter V8, strengthened and outfitted with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger” under the hood the present day Cobra Jet is putting up mid-eights in the quarter-mile at 150mph.

Via Ford:
The engine sends power to the ground through a 9-inch solid rear axle, two-way coil-over shocks with adjustable ride height and a low-drag disc brake system from Strange Engineering as well as a four-link rear suspension with antiroll and panhard bars. Additional factory-provided racing performance upgrades include an NHRA-certified safety roll cage, FIA-certified seats and anniversary-badged racing wheels.

This commemorative Mustang is limited to just 68 units honoring the birth year of the original Cobra Jet and is available for order now. However, to be one of the 68 you’ll need to cough up $130,000, but, who knows, maybe you’ll make that back in no time on the drag strip.
