GMC Bringing Carbon To Their Sierra Truck Line

Carbon is the go to element of the automotive industry from racecars to supercars and even helmets there are few corners of the automotive world that carbon has yet to seep into and today that includes trucks.

GMC has announced that they will be releasing their Sierra CarbonPro Editions this summer. Given “CarbonPro is made of the same raw material found in seven-figure super cars and even aerospace applications,” according to Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global GMC, you’d expect that the carbon usage would be tied to speed and performance, but these are trucks after all. No, the trucks feature a CarbonPro bed.

Available on the Sierra Denali 1500 and the Sierra AT4 1500 these trucks will have a bed that deliver “best-in-class dent, scratch and corrosion resistance.” Additionally, utilizing this new material reduced weight 25% over steel meaning around 60 pounds less in weight, 1 cubic foot more space than steel and requires no need to be painted or lined.

The CarbonPro Editions will expand to more 2020 models soon.
