Jeep, AM General Partner On Jeep Gladiator XMT

For starters, where do we enlist?!

The two most common household names when it comes to military equipment have partnered to unleash the Jeep Gladiator Extreme Military-Grade Truck (XMT). Given the companies military histories that date back to the WWII it shouldn’t be of a surprise that the Gladiator XMT is a light-weight military truck concept.

Debuting at the Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) the Gladiator is, “the most capable midsize truck ever, with 7,650 pounds of towing capacity and up to 1,600 pounds of payload capacity” making it a smart choice for AM General. Working from that the brand best known for their HUMVEE put their expertise to use in creating a “rugged truck that can traverse the toughest of terrains in adverse conditions and is ready to meet varied military customer requirements.”

Having debuted this week, the future of the Jeep Gladiator XMT now lies in the hands of the free market and its pending interest. If enough military interest is generated, the truck could go into production in 2020. For the sake of military toys and future surplus auctions, we certainly have our fingers crossed for production.
