One-Of-One ’70 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T Leads Indy Auction Lineup

These days, car options of yesteryear seem to be the norm and today’s options seem to be downright crazy. It’s almost comical these days to think of music from a decade or two ago or a show like Pimp My Ride and think they were stoked about 20-inch wheels and TVs in headrest, options that are practically standard in a minivan these days. If you go even further back options get even more simple, case and point this 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T WITH sunroof.

It may not seem like much, but that sunroof makes this first model year Dodge Challenger “Mopar Royalty.” According to Mecum Auctions that first year Dodge made nine Hemi R/T convertibles, 82 Challengers with sunroofs, but only ONE Hemi Challenger R/T and this is it. Having undergone an extensive restoration by the famed Steven Juliano, this Challenger prepares to head to auction in Indianapolis the middle of next month.

Interestingly enough, the famed ’70 would be purchased by Dana Mecum from Juliano just a few months prior to Juliano’s passing. And while it’s the sunroof that makes it one-of-a-kind it’s the sunroof in conjunction with the 426cu.-in. 425hp Hemi engine.

Having been featured Mopar Action magazine, restored by Juliano and owned by Mecum, this one-of-one Challenger is a must for any Mopar collector and will certainly fetch top dollar at Mecum Indy May 14-19.
