Steve McQueen’s Original 1968 Mustang GT Fastback Resurfaces

Two 1968 Mustang GT Fastbacks were used in making Bullitt, one primarily driven by McQueen himself and the other used for stunts. The latter was recovered in early 2017, but the one McQueen drove was lost…until now.

McQueen’s Mustang was sold by Warner Brothers to a private collector and it was following that sale that the one of the most famous cars in movie history fell off the map. However, it has now resurfaced with owner Sean Kiernan who inherited the car from his father in 2014 having been first purchased by the family in 1974. The original Bullitt Mustang in all its glory made its public debut for the first time in decades alongside Ford’s new Bullitt at the NAIAS.
