The King’s Superbird Going To Auction

Competing for just one season, this 1970 Plymouth Superbird was raced by Petty in an effort to bring him back to Plymouth.

During that 1970 campaign Petty would earn 18 wins and 31 top 10 finishes behind the wheel of the most iconic car in stock car racing history. The car has since been restored to new by Petty Enterprises using all original or NOS parts and has been setup for superspeedway racing where the 426 Hemi V8, since restored by Maurice and Timmy Petty, is capable of powering the car to 193.5mph.

A Superbird, a car driven by Richard Petty, an 18 win racecar, any one element alone would be a draw at auction, but all combined will make this lot highly desirable when it crosses the Mecum auction stage in Harrisburg later this summer July 31 – August 3rd.
