This 1958 Plymouth Fury Is Pure Terror

Terror?! How could a car this pretty be anything to fear? Well, this is Christine. Not some replica Christine that was some father/son build, but the star car from the film Christine.

For those that may need a crash course in Christine, it paired two of the most iconic names in horror for one terrifying film. Based on the novel by the man, myth, legend Stephen King the film was directed by John Carpenter who also directed the ever terrifying Halloween. The premise of the film was simple, this 1958 Plymouth Fury was possessed and out to harm those that crossed it.

After filming wrapped on Christine the car was auctioned off as part of a New Year’s Eve celebration that saw 40,000 brave souls vying to be the next owner, or victim, of Christine. As one of the star cars, this example was used for close up shots during filming and to maintain its pristine nature it has since undergone a restoration in private ownership. Christine features, “a small-block Wedge V-8 engine fed by dual 4-barrel carburetors perched atop an Offenhauser intake manifold.” Easily one of the most famous movie cars of all time, this ’58 Plymouth Fury is projected to hammer for $400,000-$500,000 at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction in early 2020.
