Wanna Cybertruck? Tesla’s Got You Covered

I don’t think it would be hard to get the masses to agree that Elon Musk knows more than me and for the sake of the all-new Tesla Cybertruck I hope it’s true, but I remain skeptical.

The truck has some amazing specs and we will get to that, but I’m not convinced that’s enough. Who is this designed for? Aesthetically it’s a tank that screams manliness, but the EV segment, let alone an EV SUV, isn’t one for “men” in the traditional (read: stereotypical) sense. On the flip side, the design seems harsh for the soccer mom segment that would benefit from the added space of an electric SUV. At a time when we’re making amazing strides toward EV design acceptance with other major entries from Ford and Lexus debuting this week as well, this seems a step back to the early days when cars like the Prius were mocked for their looks, despite the spec benefits.

So what exactly are the specs on the Cybertruck? Well, it will vary based on which variant you choose: Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive, Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive, and Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive; however, we will look at the high-end numbers. A range of over 500 miles, 0-60mph and under 3-seconds and a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and payload of 3,500. All that and room for six adults plus all the Tesla features you’ve come accustomed to hearing about like the large interior touchscreen and plethora of self-driving features.

Pricing for the Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive starts at $39,900, Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive at 49,900, and Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive at $69,900 with an additional $7,000 on top of each for self-driving features.
